GRAND RAPIDS --- A newly formed pro-life organization launched at the Michigan Republican Party's state convention in west Michigan on Saturday with a prayer to end abortion.  Specifically the group strives to end taxpayer funded abortions in states such as Massachusetts.

"The Romney health care plan in Massachusetts lead to taxpayer funding of abortion regardless of how or why it may have occurred," said Jerry Zandstra, the President of the Pro-life Federation of Michigan and a participant in the prayer breakfast." His plan lead to the taxpayer funded killing of the innocent and therefore we are calling for the plan to be repealed and for him to call for the plan to be repealed until it can be worked out so that it stops funding abortions."

The Romney Health Care Plan 'Commonwealth Care' led the way for a new pro-abortion wave in America bypassing a health care plan that lead to abortion-on-demand coverage for low-income citizens.  The reality is this wide and sweeping expansion of government creates a new taxpayer-funded abortion program.

Over 100 people attended the prayer breakfast which launched this new organization on Saturday morning prior to the Romney speech to the Michigan GOP Convention.

The organizers of the breakfast and founding members include:  Rev. Jerry Zandstra, President, Pro-Life Federation of Michigan; Gary Glenn, President, American Family Association of Michigan; Glenn Clark, Former Executive Director, Michigan Christian Coalition & Chairman, 9th CD GOP of Michigan; Tom McMillin, Former Field Director, Michigan Christian Coalition, Michigan Republican Party Issues Committee Chairman; Bill Voorheis, Michigan Social Conservative Chairman, Bush-Cheney '04; & Harry Veryser, Michigan Chairman Robertson for President '88, Buchanan for President '92, Forbes for President '96.

PRAYER BREAKFAST

To End Abortion and Stop Taxpayer Funding of Abortion

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Dear Fellow Pro-Family Republican:

Every time we have a victory in the pro-life movement, like electing and re-electing George Bush President of the United States, the left pushes back because they oppose one very important principal:  the right to life.  A recent movement by anti-life leaders, toward a culture of death, by forcing taxpayers to pay for abortion for low income women via new state health care plans across our nation is alarming.  From Massachusetts to California, this new wave of big government has been created under the guise of saving taxpayer dollars by limiting costs to the state dealing with low income citizens.  What has happened in reality is the greatest threat to the pro-life movement since Roe vs. Wade:  Unlimited taxpayer funding of abortion without the consent of the public.

Please join us Saturday morning from 7:45 - 8:30 a.m. for a complimentary Michigan Prayer Breakfast calling out for the eradication of abortion in our land, and specifically for an end of taxpayer funding of abortion.  Join us in Senator Vandenberg Room A (2nd level), Amway Grand Hotel, Grand Rapids for this exciting, faith-based event where we can join together in fellowship, prayer and dedication for this very important fight!  The cause of life must never give in!

Yours for Life,

REV. JERRY ZANDSTRA
